Episode 4 Overview
In a time when type 2 diabetes is affecting millions of people worldwide, innovative strategies for managing this condition are more important than ever. This episode of Type 2 Diabetes Talk sees Dr Jedha delve into the T2Diet Study, a multi-phase research project that is completely reshaping diabetes management.
The multi-phase study included:
- Pre-research: Systematic review
- Phase 1: User-centred development of a digital dietary program
- Phase 2: Randomised controlled trial of a digital dietary program
- Phase 3: User experience of a digital dietary program
Led by Dr. Jedha, for the first time worldwide, the T2Diet Study explored the impacts of a web-based low carbohydrate diet for people with type 2 diabetes. The findings revealed that this digital intervention not only improved A1c levels and assisted with weight loss, but also reduced the need for medication intake. And for the first time in the world, this study provides solid evidence that digital dietary programs can be life-changing for people with type 2 diabetes.
The T2Diet Program adopts innovative and groundbreaking strategies, offering an easy-to-follow, user-friendly program that empowers people to take control of their health. The study underscores the importance of involving people in the development of programs, having a well-planned protocol for a randomised controlled trial, and getting follow up feedback to assess the usefulness of a program.
As the episode emphasises, “nutrition is incredibly powerful. For you, it is the most important part of your treatment with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes.”
The T2Diet Program, proven in a randomised controlled trial to dramatically reduce A1c, weight, and medications in just 16 weeks, is an excellent place to start!
